This motorcycle itinerary starts and ends in Sondrio, Lombardy. It follows the SS38 dello Stelvio across the entire Valtellina valley to Bormio (1.225 m), then climbs the 40 numbered hairpins of the Lombard side up to the Passo dello Stelvio (2.758 m), one of the highest paved Alpine passes, with Col de l'Iseran at a higher elevation. Shape: out_and_back, same road on the way up and down, total around 172 km. Sequence Sondrio - Tirano - Grosio - Sondalo - Bormio - hairpins - Passo dello Stelvio - back. Pass is seasonal: usually open from late May or mid June to early November.
